The Finishing Operator:
Location: Magnus Precision Manufacturing | 1912 Route 96, Phelps, NY 14532 | In person, no remote/hybrid
*Our clean, organized, and air-conditioned shop ensures a comfortable work environment year-round.
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours) | Currently hiring for A Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
*Our 4-day schedule offers work/life balance with a 3-day weekend or optional overtime on Fridays when available.
Pay Range: Hourly rate $16.00 - $22.00 based on experience
Collaboration: This position does not manage others, will report to the team lead, and regularly collaborates with team members including machinists and quality control.
Position Summary/Duties: The operator finishes machined parts to ensure they meet quality and specification standards.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections from metal parts to ensure a smooth and polished finish.
- Uses hand tools, power tools, grinders, tumblers, machines to finish parts; regularly uses microscopes and other magnification tools.
- Prepares surfaces through cleaning, polishing or application of surface treatments as required.
- Visually inspects parts to ensure compliance with prints, drawings and quality standards.
- Completes regular cleaning and maintenance to keep the department, tools, machines and work area in optimal condition.
- Must adhere to quality procedures and company policies, maintain accurate records, and perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications: Experience is highly preferred, but we are open to all experience levels if you want to learn!
- High focus on quality with a strong attention to detail; should be comfortable using hand tools and working under microscopes for long periods of time.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, a focus on long-term commitment, with a desire to contribute to our culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to complete pre-employment which includes drug screen, fit-for-duty physical, background check and authorization to work in the US.
